Serene Prayer

Different than my usual style yes! But you guys know how I don't like staying in one lane! This was a mix of studies between caravaggio and his disciples. The technique is to build up the light values from the dark background and it works so well for showing the form! Anyway I'm gonna drop some backstory about Serene here for the 2 people who care about my character and my future comics 😂

Serene is the daughter of Asteus, one of the three pillars of faith appointed by the immortal being Seraph, chosen as the way of "fear and repercussion ", her father preaches about the consequences and punishment of the wrongdoings (sins) of mankind. However, as all the pillars, he's just another puppet used by Seraph for his own interest. Manipulating the common people, spreading dread and terror.

Serene, his only daughter, is blessed with one of the greatest gifts sought after. The ability to foresee the future in riddled visions manifested by a set of gemstones. However, with immense power, also comes an immense drawback. Each beginning of the month, she gets possessed by an embodiment of the grotesque things her religious organization has committed through time, once she took form of a monstrous goblin driving a burning chariot seeking souls of all involved in the sanctuary. And another time she turned into the ghost of a fallen emperor avenging his family, assassinated thousands of years ago due to his opposition of the imposed corruption done by Seraph.... Etc.

Serene sometimes can hear the millions of souls that's been tortured and burned alive from the terrible things her father and his ancestors has committed through time.
